Students involved in the agricultural program at Chesley District High School are going on a special two day road trip.
They are at the University of Guelph today and tomorrow to take part in a special conference dealing with the future and variety of opportunities in the agricultural sector.
Joy Johnson is the conference co coordinator and says about 90 students from Grey Bruce will be at the conference which will feature a number of expert speakers and agricultural leaders.
She says this will be a great learning experience and could make the students even more enthusiastic about their future in agriculture.
Johnson says not every student taking the agricultural program at Chesley are from agricultural backgrounds, so this conference is a good way to help expand their knowledge base.
She says the varied line of speakers will be able to highlight to the students the many and varied opportunities in agriculture and agri-Business.
Johnson also says she would like to see more apprenticeship opportunities in the agricultural sector and is pleased that the most recent Ontario Government Budget is addressing that issue.
Students from all across Ontario who are involved in similar programs will take part in the two day conference
