Bruce Peninsula OPP are ready for the long holiday weekend.
Police will be out in full force with RIDE checks, as well as ATV, motorcycle, foot and marine patrols.
Detachment Commander, Brad Fishliegh says about 25 additional officers will be in the Sauble Beach area working with the town’s bylaw enforcement department to ensure a safe weekend.
Fishliegh says they will be on the lookout for agressive drivers, speeders and for seatbelt violations.
He adds drinking and driving offences continue to be the leading cause of serious injury and death in motor vehicle collisions.
Fishliegh says they just want people to know that the OPP are out there and are watching.
He says there will be a high presence of officers, providing good visibility.
Fishliegh says the extra officers and equipment will ensure the Bruce Peninsula OPP can respond to any calls that come in.
Fishliegh says historically during this weekend, the Sauble Beach area faces an influx of 20,000 to 30,000 visitors.
He says officers will be working to ensure the residents and tourists have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
