The Kincardine Legion is not closing.
A nomination meeting was held last night, and a president was announced, along with a new executive.
Current President Red Larson, says until last night, no one wanted the job of president.
If no one would have come forward, the legion would have had to fold.
Larson says 80 members attended the meeting last night, proving there is a desire to be a part of the community.
Larson says facing the reality of the legion closing was the reason an executive was formed.
His term as President ends May 31st.
That’s when Gord Wilkinson steps into his shoes as the new President for a one year term.
Larson says the next step is to recruit younger members to the legion.
He says they will be the ones who can ultimately carry on the good work it does within the community.
