One Bruce County municipality is backing the Citizens for Bruce “C”.
Saugeen Shores Councillor Luke Charbonneau put forth a motion at last night’s Council meeting to support the committee in their effort to bring a new nuclear build to the Bruce site.
Council passed the motion by a 6-0 vote with Deputy Mayor Doug Freiburger and Councillor Jane Barber both absent and Councillor Victoria Serda declaring a conflict of interest since her husband works at the Bruce.
Charbonneau feels the Town needs to have new build at the Bruce site.
He says it will be good for the community and the financial future of the Town.
Charbonneau says Bruce Power is their major employer who contribute to the social fabric of the community.
He says Bruce Power makes donations or offers support to many projects in the Town.
Charbonneau says the continuing success and future growth of Bruce Power is critical for Saugeen Shores.
Committee Co-Chair Doug Mullaly was at the meeting to deliver a presentation on the Bruce “C” campaign and announced that they have already collected 4 thousand signatures.
He says not only is he pleased that the motion passed but that Council wants to support the campaign itself and hopes other area municipalities will follow suit.
He says the more people who support the campaign, the better it will be for the community.
Mullaly and Co-Chair Dave Trumble will be on Soundingboard this morning (TUE) to talk about the campaign with John Divinski.
