OPSEU is calling for an investigation into the finances of the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
Union President Warren “Smokey” Thomas visited the picket line in Owen Sound this morningĀ where 27 office and clerical workers are on strike.
Thomas says he is concerned about the financial management of the health unit.
Thomas says he will ask Health Minister George Smitherman to look closely at the health unit’s finances.
The union has complained during the strike about the number of managers at the health unit and the amount of money they make.
Thomas also wants a summit meeting with the Grey Bruce Board of Health to get the facts into the open and kick start bargaining.
He doesn’t think the board members are aware of all of the facts.
The 27 office and clerical employees have been on strike since May 1st to back demands for higher wages.
