The Mayor of Arran Elderlslie says they have a modest and responsible budget.
Council approved its budget yesterday at 9.8 million dollars.
It includes a municipal tax increase of 6.16 per cent — but when you factor in the education and county levies, the tax increase works out to 4.45 per cent.
That means almost 73 dollars more on the tax bill for a home assessed at 120 thousand dollars.
Mayor Ron Oswald says water and sewers take a good portion of the budget up at 2.37 million dollars.
The biggest project is at the south end of Chesley, where the County is re-doing Bruce Road 30.
The municipality is on the hook for water and sewers on that road.
The other large chunk of the budget falls under the works department, where 3.26 million dollars is set aside for more than 360 kilometres of roads and streets as well as 60 bridges.
