Kincardine is mulling on whether to conduct a hydro geological study on the Huron Ridge subdivision.
Council last night asked Public Works Manager Jim O’Rourke to obtain cost estimates for the study.
Deputy Mayor Laura Haight says the study is to determine whether the area is suitable to put in storm drains and sanitary sewers.
Council proposed the installation of drains and sewers last November in an effort to address the flooding problems in the neighbourhood.
Haight says the subdivision is on a perched water table with some parts on clay and others on dry, sandy soil and that leads to inconsistent water levels.
Haight says the study will have engineers determine what those levels are like and whether the storm drains will accommodate it.
Huron Ridge resident Jim Bagshaw is one who is opposed to having the work done.
He came to the meeting once again saying there is no evidence of the footing drains is causing the flooding.
He also presented findings suggesting there is another root cause for the flooding.
Haight reiterated that the 8-inch sewage line isn’t capable of handling all that storm water.
She says sanitary sewers should be for sewage and the drains will be able to handle the storm water.
