The Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound is getting ready for the auction block.
The 2008 Kiwanis Live Auction takes place this Saturday (May 3rd) at the Coliseum in Owen Sound.
Kiwanis member John Prettie says they’ve been working hard to collect donations and items up for bid this year.
Prettie says they started well over 50 years ago, with a yearly auction on the radio and then on television.
This is the second year theyll put on a live auction, and Prettie hopes this year will be better, as they’ve had some growing pains they’ve worked through.
All the money collected will support programs the Kiwanis run for kids.
Prettie says that includes support for families who don’t have dental or eye plans, and cant afford to pay for check ups, braces or glasses.
Prettie says the live auction portion will start at 11 AM with a new set of items up for bid every hour, and theyll stay as long as it takes to sell all the items.
In addition to the live auction, there will also be a silent auction running throughout the day.
Over 300 items are up for bid. Doors to the Coliseum open at 10 a.m. and its expected things will wrap up around 3 in the afternoon.
