Bruce Power is recognizing its high safety standards.
Manager of Government Relations, Ross Lamont provided Bruce County council with an update Thursday on the recent activities and developments at Bruce Power.
Lamont says currently, over 9 million man hours have been logged into the rebuild of Bruce A Units 1 and 2 without a loss time accident.
He says this sets a record for this type of construction, adding its a risky project with a number of safety issues.
Lamont says they are proud of the accomplishment of making sure all of the workers go home safely every day.
Lamont says this large infrastructure project involves about 23 hundred workers, adding construction has been ongoing for close to two years.
Lamont says the province has some significant decisions to make this year in terms of how much new nuclear power over what time frame it needs to build.
He says the province also has to make some decisions on the technology and where and who will build.
Lamont says Bruce Power is one of the best sites in Ontario for the first new build.
Lamont says Bruce Power provides 20 to 25 percent of the electricity demand in Ontario.
