Westario Power customers will be paying less for electricity starting today.
CEO Guy Cluff says the monthly bill for an average residential customer should be 5.8 per cent less in fact.
That translates to an average of $7.14 less per month or $85.68 for the year.
This is for the customer which uses on average a thousand kilowatts hours a month.
Cluff says costs associated with changes in the electricity market have been recovered; the reason for the drop.
Rates for small stores and businesses will drop 3.2 per cent, while rates for larger users, like department stores and small manufacturers will go down on average 1.2 – 1.3 per cent.
Westario services 21 thousand customers including the areas of Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, Hanover, Walkerton, Clifford, Elmwood, Mildmay, Lucknow, Teeswater, Neustadt, Ripley, Wingham, Harriston, and Palmerston.
