The future looks bright in the eyes of the President of the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber held their Annual General Meeting last night where around 130 people were in attendance at the Saugeen Golf and Country Club. President Gary Brown is forecasting that the Town will continue to grow. He says the growth is going to be good for the area and can’t see anything else but that. With the recent announcement of Wal-Mart getting the go-ahead to build a Super Centre at the south end of Port Elgin, Brown says just because a new business is coming in doesn’t mean you are going to fail. He says the people who come up to the area to vacation want to relax but they also to shop in the unique businesses that the Town has. Brown says the Chamber currently has 403 members which is a good amount for a Chamber in any community. He says that number is higher than any area Chamber of Commerce and will continue to grow. Brown says there are a number of events that the Chamber has planned for 2008. Among them the Southampton 150th Anniversary, Cruiser’s Cruise Night, and Pumpkinfest.
