Office and clerical workers poised to walk off the job at the Grey Bruce Health Unit are warning residents they may run into reduced services.
Many sectors will be out of luck if there’s a strike next week.
A press release issued by OPSEU is advising several groups to be aware they could run into problems.
They say contractors needing permits, doctors requiring the delivery of vaccines, parents of children who haven’t been immunized and real estate agents needing file searches will all be out of luck if the 26 health unit employees hit the bricks.
OPSEU says it regrets these potential inconveniences but adds there has been no progress in talks with the provincially appointed concilliator.
The union contends the Grey Bruce Health Unit employees are among the lowest paid in the province while the Medical Officer of Health is in the top one third of her peer group and the Director of Finance made the 100 thousand dollar club last year.
Although the legal date for a strike or lockout is April 29th…the bargaining team has extended the deadline to May 1st to allow for more talks.
