The South Bruce Grey Health Centre Board unanimously approved a proposal from the Municipality of Kincardine to construct a 10-thousand square-foot building on the hospital property. The next step will be to forward the proposal to the Local Health Integration Network and then later on to the Ministry of Health for approval. SBGHC President and CEO Paul Davies says there was never any problem from the board in donating land to Kincardine to build the addition. He says they have done it before for Chesley and other communities and the outcome from the Board last night was expected. Davies says the LHIN needed three things from the board in order to proceed with the addition. He says the LHIN required a site plan detailing where the addition is to be built on the hospital property. He says they want to make sure that the addition will not impede on any future development on the property. Davies says the LHIN also needed a motion from the Board giving their stamp of approval and a letter from him indicating that this addition will not have a negative impact on the hospital. Davies would not indicate how long the process will take. But at a special Kincardine Council meeting a couple of weeks ago, he suggested that the Municipality inform Huron Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell about the project so that it can be expedited.
