Downtown businesses in Port Elgin, say it’s business as usual, with the announcement that Walmart is coming to the town.
President of the BIA (Business Improvement Area) Charles Ebenstreit says they aren’t too concerned about the development, and aren’t surprised the go ahead was given to build it either.
He says they aren’t going to do anything different just because the big box store is coming to town.
Ebenstreit says the BIA is constantly working on improving it’s downtown and image.
He says they will continue to focus on issues like parking and beautification and customer serivce but for themselves, and not because of the addition of Walmart.
Ebenstreit says merchants offer their customers unique items, and one on one service, which is what keeps them coming back now, and will in the future.
The Ontario Municipal Board announced yesterday Walmart was given the green light to set up shop at the south end of Port Elgin.
