Plans are coming together for a new community hall for Neustadt.
West Grey Mayor Kevin Eccles says the existing hall will be demolished and replaced with a new facility.
The proposed structure will be constructed directly in front of and attaching to the arena.
Eccles says the tenders on the new hall will be going out shortly, adding council has approved the design for the facility.
The municipality has received 350 thousand dollars from the province through the Municipal Infrastructure Investment Initiative (MIII) to help with the project.
The budget for the new community hall is 1.2 million dollars, which represents a cost of about 150 dollars per square foot.
The new hall will be a 7900 square foot building and will include a smaller meeting room and a fully functional commercial kitchen.
The proposed clock tower structure was removed from the design to eliminate the additional 100 thousand dollar cost.
Eccles says the community is in great support of the new hall, adding the Neustadt Community Hall Building Committee is busy with fundraising.
Eccles says they are planning to hold a New Years Eve dance in the new hall.
