Local youth are lending a helping hand to local families.
Students from OSCVI are holding a spaghetti benefit dinner at 6 o’clock tonight at the high school.
One of the organizers — Josh Overbeek — says the money raised will go to the Salvation Army Family Services.
The Grade 12 student says it will help people in abusive homes or living in poverty.
The night also includes a live performance and a silent auction — with a number of items donated by local businesses.
Overbeek says he wanted to initiate this event to help benefit the community.
Overbeek says he chose to support the Salvation Army because they continue to impact the lives of families in need.
Overbeek says ticket sales are coming in slowly, but they are hoping to have around 250 people attend.
Tickets are 10 dollars for adults and 5 dollars for children 10 and under.
They can be purchased at The River Cafe, The Downtown Bookstore and the Salvation Army Family Services, located downtown Owen Sound.
