Chatsworth Township is proceeding with an energy audit of its three community centres.
Mayor Howard Greig says they will be undertaking a feasibility study of the Keady, Desboro and Chatsworth arenas.
The study is expected to cost about 12 thousand 600 dollars.
Greig says once the study is complete, the energy consultant firm will guarantee the energy cost savings for the township.
He adds if they do not see any savings, the company will write a cheque for the difference.
However, Greig says the initial assessment of the three arenas confirms there is potential for energy conservation.
The entire project is expected to cost about 230 thousand dollars for engineering and efficiency upgrades to the three arenas.
Greig says the province has also recently announced 25 percent funding or 100 thousand dollars maximum for energy retrofits.
He says some of the benefits with the energy audit is reduced energy costs, infrastructure renewal and environmental stewardship.
Greig says they are hoping to find cost savings that will provide a payback of under 5 years.
He says any retrofits to the three arenas will be paid through the cost savings.
