The Enbridge wind farm is pretty well on schedule in the former Kincardine Township. Project general manager Bob Simpson tells Bayshore Broadcasting News the first turbine is up with what he described as the “blades flying.” Simpson says that turbine is very visible to motorists along Highway 21, just south of Bruce Road 20. He says eight full turbines have been delivered to the site and will be erected during the spring and summer. Simpson says there is still some construction still to be done as well including about half of the foundation work. The 110 turbines at the Kincardine Township site, along with five additional turbines known as the former Cruickshank development north of Kincardine will provide enough energy to power 35,000 homes. Simpson says Enbridge hopes to realize initial production by August with all turbines in service by December. Total cost of the project is about 400-million-dollars.
