Saugeen Hospice is now looking to the future of their organization, now that they’ve received charitable status.
Chairperson Carl Kuhnke says that the organization has worked for the past year to get the status, while also forging ahead with its plans for building a new facility in Brockton.
He says they have the land secured, and a definite need in the community for a six-bed hospice.
Before Saugeen Hospice was founded last year, there were plans for Chapman House to build a facility, but recently it was announced that they wouldn’t be.
This allows Saugeen Hospice to step forward to fill that need.
Kuhnke says that any donation since the beginning of the year over $20 can now be issued a tax receipt.
