Last September, No Frills (the grocery store) dropped an album called Haulin’ State of Mind.
This is very much a parody record, with songs like “Bag It Up”, “A Cart Apart” and “Low Bills”.
Completely unaware of grocery-buying options in Canada, Jimmy Fallon stumbled across the album and decided to include it one of his regular Tonight Show bits, “Do Not Play” where he pokes fun at real songs that are kind of…awful.
No Frills shared the clip on Twitter:
Ok @jimmyfallon… that cold pressed juice line was a bit extra, but bananas ARE the portable fruit 🍌 #AintYourAverageGroceryStore #SomeonesSpicy

The reaction here in Canada has been swift, with most thinking it’s hilarious that Fallon was fooled by an obvious parody.
No Frills wasted no time reacting, by issuing a remix of the song just for Jimmy and his crew at The Tonight Show…
🍌 A drop so hot, it’s cold pressed 🍌

And no, this wasn’t part of a bigger marketing campaign.
According to blogTO, No Frills weren’t the ones to send the album to Jimmy: “We had nothing to do with the segment, it was totally organic…And while we’re pleased with the added profile for the album, we must respectfully disagree with Mr Fallon — we remain firm in our belief that the banana represents the best of the best as far as fruit portability is concerned.”
