Supreme Cannabis Company, owner of Tiverton's marijuana facility 7 ACRES, is cutting 15 percent of its employees.
It follows a recent trend by Canadian licenced producers to try to cut costs to show investors a pathway to profitability.
7 ACRES had 700 employees going into 2020 and Supreme says it will lose 33 percent of its corporate-designated jobs, while about 13 per cent of its production staff will be reduced.
In a notice to employees 7 ACRES General Manager Dan Sippel says the company is focusing on a new corporate structure with a focus on “accelerating revenue and optimizing costs”.
“To support our new corporate structure, we had to make the difficult decision to reduce the number of employees,” said Sippel.
