Everyone claims that their butter tarts are the best so Explore the Bruce put local pastry chefs to the test at the first ever Butter TART OFF on Saturday June 14th, 2014.
A total of 10 pastry chefs went through a lot of sugar, butter and flour to make their special butter tarts.
Each chef served over 400 pieces of butter tarts.
Elk and Finch won the title, Butter TART OFF Winner!
The competitors included:

2. K + S Custom Cakes & Invitation, Port Elgin
3. Elk & Finch Coffee Pub and Bistro, Southampton
4. Solways Market, South Bruce Peninsula
5. Dales Baking, Tara
6. MacBeths Cafe, Sauble Beach
7. Harleys Pub & Perk, Mildmay
8. Armstrongs Bakery, Lucknow
9. Simply Deli-Cious, Walkerton
10. Offshore Bakery, Southampton
The judges were blindfolded and rated each butter tart on stage.
There are eight judges in total and some include: Katie Dupuis, Editor of Todays Parent Magazine; Ayngelina Brogan Food Blogger; Donna Henry Co-Host of Country 93 and a Special Guest Judge, Ann Lachance from Sauble Beach.
The Special Guest Judge was selected from the registrants at the Launch Party
The Butter TART OFF took place at the Adventure Passport Launch Party at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre on June 14th, 2014.
Over 600 attendees at the Launch Party were invited to sample butter tarts.
The Launch Party was held to kick off the Adventure Passport and to kick off summer in Bruce County.
