The old PUC building in Walkerton will be the new home of the Wes For Youth Foundation.
Brockton has partnered with foundation to offer a break on the cost of the building.
It is valued at $150,000 — but Brockton is selling the building for $75,000 as part of a five year, lease to own agreement.
Under the terms, the Wes For Youth Foundation will not have to pay any rent to Brockton over the next five years.
The Foundation will however be responsible for utilities and maintenance costs.
When the five year lease is up, the Wes For Youth Foundation will purchase the building from Brockton for $75,000.
In return, Brockton’s logo will appear on Wes For Youth materials, recognizing the municipality as a partner.
The Wes For Youth Foundation is a Walkerton-based mental health organization for teens.
The Foundation was born out of the tragic death of Walkerton teen Wes Cameron who committed suicide a few years ago.
Mayor David Inglis hopes many youth will benefit from the group’s new home.
The building is centrally located in Walkerton near both high schools.
