Huron Bruce MP Ben Lobb used his first Member's Statment of 2019 to ask the Hockey Hall of Fame's election committee to review Kincardine area native and Canadian hockey legend, Paul Henderson's induction into the Hockey Hall of fame, in Ottawa, on January 28.
Lobb called Henderson one of Huron-Bruce's most beloved sons, calling him an Iconic player.
“The Canadian Press named Henderson’s series-winning goal the ‘sports moment of the century’. The one thing missing is his inclusion in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Don Cherry says he should be inducted and that's good enough for me,” said Lobb.
Henderson's professional career spanned over 1000 games in 18 seasons in the NHL and the WHA. His most famous goal came in international competition, as he scored the game-winning goals in games 6, 7, and 8 of the 1972 Summit Series between Canada and the Soviet Union.
Following Member’s Statements, the House passed a unanimous motion to support Henderson’s inclusion into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
