An arrest warrant has been issued for a 33-year-old man in relation to Hanover Police’s investigation into a fatal collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
Hanover Police say in a release Codie Bloom of no fixed address is wanted on charges of dangerous driving causing death, fail to remain at a collision resulting in death and arson.
A 66-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle last Wednesday (June 11) while crossing the street on 7th Avenue near the entrance to Hanover Park. She later died of her injuries. Police identified the victim as Sheila Lamont of Hanover.
Hanover Police allege the driver involved fled the scene in a red PT Cruiser. The car was later found destroyed by fire in a bush lot on Sideroad 25 in former Brant Township, just north of Morry’s Trailer Sales.
Bloom has now been identified as the person police believe was driving the vehicle. Investigators say he has associates in Grey, Bruce, Huron and Wellington counties.
“Those close to Bloom are reminded not to provide him any assistance in anyway as they could face criminal prosecution for being an accessory after the fact,” Hanover Police warn in a release. “This investigation remains active and ongoing with police investigators continuing to track down leads.”
Hanover Police is appealing for information that could help locate Bloom. Anyone who has information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Hanover Police or Crime Stoppers.
