The Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) is appointing a new Superintendent of Education.
Kim Harbinson is set to take on the role following the retirement of the previous superintendent, Wendy Louwerse.
The BWDSB says Harbinson is a longstanding staff member from the Owen Sound area.
She began her teaching career in 1990 and has served as a vice-principal at Saugeen District Senior School and the principal at Bruce Peninsula District and John Deifenbaker Senior School, and has also served on the administrative side as well.
Harbinson says she is honoured to join the senior BWDSB leadership team.
“I am deeply committed to public education and passionate about fostering meaningful community partnerships that support student engagement and achievement. Empowering staff, inspiring innovation, and promoting a shared vision that places student success at the centre are areas to which I am extremely dedicated. I look forward to working collaboratively with staff, students, families, and trustees to continue building a strong, inclusive, and forward-thinking learning environment across the district.
Director of Education Lori Wilder adds Harbinson’s experience will serve the BWDSB well.
Harbinson will assume the role Sept. 1.
