A local insurance brokerage in Owen Sound has been sold.
BrokerLink announced its acquisition of Hanbidge & Bowman Insurance closed earlier this month. The financial terms of the sale weren’t disclosed.
Hanbidge & Bowman was established in 1947 and offers home, auto, business and farm insurance products. It has an office on 2nd Avenue East.
BrokerLink vice president of Ontario Lindsay Loughridge says the Hanbidge team will stay the same, and at some point the name and office will transition to BrokerLink.
“When we take a look at the Hanbidge & Bowman insurance team, they have a fantastic group with great talent that are locally present and have relationships,” Loughridge says. “And that lines up really nicely with the BrokerLink philosophy.”
“We’re really excited to welcome the (Hanbidge) team to BrokerLink,” she continues. “And we think it will just cement our presence in the Owen Sound community.”
The president of Hanbidge & Bowman Dave McNeill says customers and employees will benefit from BrokerLink’s sizable network, specialized insurance offerings and technology capabilities.
And Hanbidge & Bowman vice president Steve Brown adds: “We are very excited about the sale. The resources available through BrokerLink provide both our staff and customers with many more options. It’s definitely bittersweet after having an office on Main Street for over 75 years, but the marketplace has changed and the timing was right. We definitely want to extend a sincere thank you to all of our loyal customers, and let them know they are still in great hands.”
