Sauble Sandfest is set to go this weekend at the beach.
The Sauble Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Ron Howard says this year’s Sandfest will kick off on Saturday, August 12th with family sand castle registration at 8 a.m. across from the Sauble town square on the traditional territory of Saugeen First Nation.
Sandfest is all about sand sculptures and allows people of varying skill levels to show off their creative genius.
Howard says this year, judging will be done by the general public by scanning QR codes of their favourite sand castles.
First, second and third place winners will be announced at 3 p.m.
Howard says there will also be kids games throughout the day followed by a concert and beer garden in the town square featuring Juanita and the Big Deal, Bootleg Creedence and headliner Scarecrow, which Howard says is North America’s most authentic tribute to John Cougar Mellencamp. Music is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
Sunday will feature a church service in the square at 10 a.m. There will be a Sunday concert at 7 p.m. featuring Brooke Nicholls.
