Kincardine Council is expected to pass the 2023 budget this evening.
This year’s budget is anticipated to include a 7% tax rate increase, which is down from the originally projected increase of 11.15%.
Municipal staff will be reporting back to the council on service level reductions in the areas of Corporate Services, Infrastructure & Development, Community Services, and Strategic Initiatives, in order to reduce the draft operating budget by $760,000 in order to be at the 7% target.
It also means that council will have the final say on which projects will need to be deferred to 2024 or even later in order to get costs down.
