The Municipality of Kincardine will be replacing the Campbell Bridge next year, based on staff recommendations.
Recent engineering inspections of the structure identified several structural components of the bridge, which spans the North Penetangore River, in an advanced state of deterioration.
The report identified problems with the approaches to the bridge being too steep for the posted speed limit, and the structural integrity of the bridge structure.
The staff recommendation based on the engineering report is to have to current bridge, which is over 50 years old, be replaced with a steel beam bridge.
Council accepted the report and will now have the cost of replacing the Campbell Bridge added to the 2024 Capital Budget.
The estimated cost of the project is $3.75 million.
