The Corporate Services Department for Bruce County has been working to make final adjustments for the 2023 budget.
On January 19th, staff presented the proposed 2023 budget, along with a forecast for costs up until 2027.
Council was concerned about the initial proposed levy increase of 10.57% in that presentation and made recommendations to be reduced to 7.68%.
The Corporate Services Committee had to make adjustments to their most recent proposal, which also included a withdrawal of $525,000 from the Waste Management Future Planning Reserve and transfer $375,000 of that amount to the Tax Stabilization Reserve.
$100,000 would end up being transferred to the Capital Roads Reserve.
The final $50,000 would be used to fund the Municipal Innovation Council for 2023 only, and after that point, the funding would be withdrawn.
The Waste Management Future Planning Reserve is currently at $1,055,000 and is not accounted for in the 2023-2027 budget and forecast.
