Saugeen Shores police are illustrating the cost of driving on closed road during a winter storm.
They posted on Facebook Monday about an incident during this past weekend’s blizzard that closed most roads in the region.
Police listed the resources used to respond to a vehicle rollover on Bruce Road 40 on Christmas Day:
2 police officers
2 police cruisers
4 paramedics
2 ambulances
Saugeen Shores Fire Department
Tow truck
Several good Samaritans living nearby
Police say driving on a closed highway has greater costs in addition to the $110 fine and 3 demerit points an offending driver will receive.
They say, “We don’t believe the $110 fine covers the cost of the resources accessed and the risk of injury to the responders and the offending motorist.”
They say there were no injuries as a result of the rollover.
