Bruce Power is looking to raise over $40,000 for community holiday toy drives and hamper programs.
Bruce Power says it has launched its annual online fundraiser with the United Way of Bruce Grey to support a number of local organizations.
These organizations include the Port Elgin Salvation Army, Kincardine Community Services, Walkerton Optimist Club, Tiverton Lions, Ripley Lions, Paisley Missionary Church, Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, Saugeen First Nation, Women’s Shelters in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties, Dorrell Young Christmas Program in Bruce County, Huron County Christmas Bureau, and United Way Grey County.
If Bruce Power goes beyond its original goal of $40,000, they and the United Way will be distributing the extra funds accordingly.
Bruce Power’s Manager of Community Relations Dwight Irwin says, their annual holiday toy drive has helped make the holiday season special for many local families through the various organizations they support.
“The need locally is once again great, so we encourage everybody to give to their fullest capabilities to ensure these fantastic community organizations can help make the season bright for countless families in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties,” says Irwin.
This fundraiser is part of Bruce Power and its supplier partners’ annual holiday outreach program. It splits $76,000 to 38 local food banks, $56,000 in grocery store gift cards through local schools and women’s shelters, and $10,000 in warm winter clothing to Bruce Grey Child and Family Services and Huron County Children’s Services.
Those interested in donating can visit the Bruce Power website here, with donations being accepting until midnight on Nov. 23.
