South Bruce OPP say officers laid over 200 charges during the Canada Road Safety Week campaign.
Police say all members of the South Bruce OPP took part in the campaign from June 25 to July 3.
OPP say officers were paying attention to what they describe as the big four factors in serious collisions. These include impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and failing to wear a seatbelt.
OPP say of the 216 charges laid during the week long campaign, these included 178 speeding charges, two stunt driving charges, and two for failing to wear a seatbelt.
Police add they also charged two people with impaired driving.
During the campaign, police say they also investigated 29 motor vehicle collisions. No injuries were reported at any of the scenes.
South Bruce OPP Detachment Manager Sergeant Ryan Olmstead says, “these results show us that too many drivers are taking chances with road safety. The safety initiative has ended, but the South Bruce OPP remain committed to road safety all year long. Motorists on Southern Bruce County roads can expect to see our officers stopping drivers that are risking your safety.”
