Grey Bruce Health Services is expanding its Urgent Virtual Care program to allow more people to contact a physician by phone.
GBHS says the expansion will come into effect on June 13 and will now be available every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This expansion adds an additional day and two and a half more hours of service.
GBHS says the program is available for those who need to see a doctor, but can’t get in to their family physician, or are not sick enough to go to an emergency department.
Grey Bruce Health Services reminds if you are in severe distress, experiencing a medical emergency, or your symptoms worsen while you wait, please call 911 or go to your nearest Emergency Department.
To use the services, residents will need a phone or other device with audio and video capabilities to speak with the doctor.
GBHS adds in most cases, this service is much faster than waiting in an ER. Patients of all ages are able to utilize this free program, with children under the age of 18 needing an adult for registration.
Lindsay, a recent program user according to GBHS says, “the program was easy to use, and the doctor was able to evaluate my son’s condition with no issue. We will definitely use the program again.”
Patients are required to register online first on the GBHS website before getting an appointment.
