Grey Bruce Health Services is changing its visitors’ policy as of today and will only be allowing essential visitors at its hospitals.
A release from the hospital organization explains essential visitors will only be permitted in the following circumstances:
-End of life (2 visitors)
-Parents/guardians of children (2 visitors)
-Women in labour (1 visitor during labour and throughout the mother’s stay)
-Patients with accessibility needs (physical/cognitive) (1 visitor)
Patients attending appointments in the hospital, including emergency room visits, and those attending outpatient clinics must come alone, the release says. Exceptions will be made for individuals with accessibility issues.
The change in policy comes due to increase Covid cases in the region, a statement from Grey Bruce Health Services explains.
“We recognize that visitors are an important part of the health and wellbeing of patients,” a release from the hospital organization explains. “We will be monitoring the COVID situation closely, and look forward to welcoming visitors into our hospitals again as soon as it is safe to do so.”
Grey Bruce Health Services operates hospitals in Owen Sound, Southampton, Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford and Wiarton.
