Saugeen Shores Police say a 56-year-old resident is facing several charges following a confrontation at a local grocery store.
On Jan. 6 around 8 p.m., police say they received a call regarding a man who was allegedly threatening people and causing damage.
According to police, a male and female were confronted by another customer over not wearing masks. The dispute had escalated prompting the male customer to threaten to cause bodily harm to the other male.
Police say a bystander witnessed the interaction and attempted to intervene, resulting in the male threatening this customer.
Police say the altercation continued in the parking lot of the grocery store, where the man brandished a baseball bat in a dangerous manner towards the male and female. The male then struck the taillight of the victim’s vehicle causing damage.
Police say through an at scene investigation, police identified the suspect, arresting and charging him with mischief under $5,000, three counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The accused was released with a future court date.
