A demolition ceremony was held last night for the former Paisley Inn.
The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie, and the Fisher Grist Milling Corporation hosted the community ceremony.
Budget Environmental Incorporated is now demolishing the building at 604 Queen Street South with completion set for mid-October.
The Municipality says there are plans to build a mixed residential and commercial building in the same location with many of the same design attributes. That work will be done by Invisij Architects and Schilthuis Construction.
A statement says, “The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie is excited to support this project and is looking forward to the building that will be constructed in the place which will pay homage to history of the former Paisley Inn and the positive addition that this future building will make to Downtown Paisley.”
On its Facebook page Arran-Elderslie says, “It was a great evening filled with memories and excitement for what is to come with this property and the Village of Paisley as a whole. Thanks to all who joined us!”
