The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported 17 new Covid cases and 10 resolved ones on Monday.
According to Public Health, seven people from The Blue Mountains, six folks from Owen Sound, two from Meaford and residents of Hanover and Arran-Elderslie tested positive.
The region’s active known case load increased to 50. Four Grey Bruce residents are currently hospitalized.
Meanwhile, the Health Unit says in a release it is working with Kelso Villa Retirement Home in Owen Sound to address a Covid outbreak as one staff member and five residents have tested positive.
“All six individuals were fully vaccinated. None of the cases has severe Covid-19 disease; all mild symptoms,” Public Health says in a statement. “Factoring in the transmissibility of the Delta variant, this could have been much worse. If no one was vaccinated, it is most likely all 108 residents have been infected by now.”
Around 95 per cent of residents at Kelso Villa are vaccinated, according to the Health Unit, providing a higher level of protection to all and significantly decreasing the risk of severe disease and hospitalization in those fully immunized.
More than 217,800 Covid vaccine doses have been administered in the region to date.
Today, there are drop-in vaccination clinics running at Owen Sound District Secondary School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Keady Arena Parking Lot on Grey Road 3 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and at the Dundalk Arena Parking Lot from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Nineteen Grey Bruce residents have died from the virus over the course of the pandemic.
The testing and case counts data released by the health unit on Monday are reflective of a 24-hour period prior to 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
