Like hospitals across Ontario, Grey Bruce Health Services is taking steps to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission and now will not permit visitors to its six area hospitals.
Exceptions will be made for compassionate reasons, on a case-by-case basis for Women and Child Care Unit/Labor and Delivery, Palliative and Critical Care.
Those individuals will be screened for illness and travel prior to entry as will All GBHS staff and physicians coming into hospital.
Anyone who has travelled outside of Canada in the past 14 days are asked to self-isolate and monitor for symptoms.
Volunteer Services have been suspended until further notice, and gift shops have been closed.
They are also reviewing all non-urgent outpatient clinics, and will post a full list of cancellations on their website (gbhs.on.ca) today.
Visitor restrictions are also now in place at all South Bruce Grey Heath Centre sites and Hanover and District Hospital.
A portable COVID-19 Assessment Centre is expected to open in the next few days at the Owen Sound Hospital. The Assessment Centre will screen patients who are experiencing respiratory symptoms and have travelled, or have been in contact with a person with COVID-19.
A plan of care will be developed, and may include self-isolation at home.
