If you pay a hydro bill, here's some helpful advice on how to take advantage of a new program that promises savings.
The AffordAbility Fund is designed to help Ontario residents who do not qualify for low-income programs and pay a hydro bill.
Hanover CAO Brian Tocheri encourages all those with a hydro bill to apply for the AffordAbility fund.
The program offers three levels of energy saving support to help reduce energy consumption in homes.
The three levels of support range from free energy saving kits to energy audits and Energy Star appliances, new insulation and even heating system upgrades.
Level 1 is available to anyone regardless of income, whereas levels 2 and 3 are based on a formula of household income and annual electricity costs.
Level 1 is valued at $250, Level 2 up to $5,500 and Level 3 up to $15,000.
Residents can register online at affordabilityfund.org
This program is only available until the end of the year, so Tocheri encourages all those with a hydro bill to apply.
The AffordAbility Fund program is funded by the Government of Ontario and is being offered by local electric utility companies.
In Hanover, Westario is collaborating with Greenbrain to promote and deliver the program.
Hanover will assist by promoting the AffordAbility Fund program on the Town’s website, through posters and pamphlets available a thte Civic Centre and library.
Residents can register by calling 1-855-494-3863 or online at www.affordabilityfund.org
