The Royal Canadian Legion kicked off it's annual poppy campaign this week, but this year in addition to the classic lapel poppy, you'll be able to design your own custom ''digital poppy''.
The ''digital poppies'' will be available online from October 26th through to Remembrance Day (November 11th).
You'll be able to personalize your poppy by adding your own family stories and pictures.
Once you download your poppy, its yours to keep. You can post it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or just print it out and have it as a keepsake.
The best part: unlike traditional poppies, this one won't fall off and get lost.
The digital poppy costs nothing to produce, so all funds raised are pure profit that go to support Canadian veterans, current Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP members, as well as their families.
Officials say that the shift from traditional poppies to digital is, in part, due to trying to grow and maintain a mostly volunteer-based sales team and dealing with the realities of an increasingly cashless supporter base.
Celebrities like Justin Bieber, author Margaret Atwood, Don Cherry, and Ron MacLean are endorsing the digital poppy and will share their stories online.
Digital poppies will be available by visiting MyPoppy.ca
The 2018 poppy campaign officially launched Monday (October 22nd).
