The Safe Exchange Zone we told you was coming to Owen Sound, is now open.
Constable Craig Peddle says they now have an official Zone in the parking lot next to the main door of the Police station.
It is to be used by people who want a safe area to meet for parental custody transfers or to assess and purchase goods from people they have met online.
The Police Service building has enhanced video coverage overlooking the four parking spaces at 922 2nd Avenue West.
There is one wheel chair /mobility accessible parking space in this safe zone.
The ˜Safe Exchange Zone” will be open 24 hours per day, year-round.
These parking spaces can be used as a prearranged meeting point for:
Family/Parental meeting place for shared custody transfers
Reviewing/Signing of documents between persons
Receiving/Accepting legal documents; or similar instruments of law
Inspecting/Assessing goods offered for sale, prior to purchase
Delivering/Receiving goods that have been sold/purchased on-line or by other contract.
