Wiarton skateboarders will have to wait a little longer to try tricks in their own park.
The Joanne Lancaster Skateboard Park in Wiarton's Bluewater Park is on a temporary hold.
South Bruce Peninsula Mayor Janice Jackson says Propour Concrete Services is ready to go but they have sub-contracted the intial digging and preparation work to Harold Sutherland Construction, and the holdup seems to be with Sutherland.
Jackson says town staff is doing what they can to “shake the tree with Harold Sutherland Construction and get it going as soon as possible but unfortunately, we are facing delays.”
Town staff did not have a reason as to why Sutherland was not on site yet but will continue to talk to them.
The original plan was to have the park opened by mid-July.
The $150,000 facility will be located on the east side of the swimming pool at Bluewater Park.
Mayor Jackson still believes the park will be opened this summer but not by mid-July as first planned.
