The Bluewater District School Board has appointed a Superintendent of Education.
Cynthia Lemon will take on the title starting May 1st.
Board Communications Officer Jamie Pettit says it’s really a reclassification of her existing position, and notes they’re not adding more staff and it’s not going to cost more money.
Lemon has been the board’s Executive Officer Human Resources Services since 2009.
As Superintendent of Education, her responsibilities will be broadened to include a geographical school area, she’ll continue her human resources work, and take on a few other responsibilities as well.
Pettit says the board has three other Superintendents of Education, Wendy Kolohon, Lori Wilder and Paul Hambleton. Each has a geographical area of schools they oversee (North, South and Central).
Lemon has more than 30 years of experience in education, including as a teacher, vice-principal and principal in a variety of Bluewater schools.
She also has experience in union and employee relations.
Lemon says, “It is an honour to serve the students, staff and communities in Bruce and Grey Counties, and a privilege to work with those who are so passionate about and dedicated to the success of our students in Bluewater District School Board.”
