This National Immunization Awareness Week, you can download a new app for your smart phone that puts immunization information right in your mobile device.
The app is called ImmunizeCA and can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store, Google Play and Blackberry World.
Grey-Bruce Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hazel Lynn says “the app is a repository for information and connects right to your immunization record.”
The app lists the shots you have had, shots you need to get and when.
Doctor Lynn says infectious diseases can still be a threat if immunizations aren’t up to date.
The Health Unit’s Public Relations Coordinator Drew Ferguson says he gets calls daily from somewhere in Grey Bruce about their vaccine status.
He says the app can make this process much easier and faster for people anywhere in the province.
Immunize CA was developed by a partnership with the Canadian Public Health Association, Immunize Canada and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.
