The Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation is still waiting to hear from Brockton about its request for help.
The hospital foundation has asked for a $25,000 donation to be spread out over five years — that works out to $6 per residence over five years.
The money will pay to expand and upgrade the Cancer Care Unit at the Owen Sound hospital.
Foundation Development Officer Willard VanderPloeg says the $8.6-million project will improve cancer and cardiac care.
Mayor David Inglis says they will give the request serious consideration during budget meetings this month.
Over the last year, 300 residents from Brockton received their cancer care at the hospital in Owen Sound.
Another 350 people received outpatient care and 100 received inpatient care.
Inglis says its important the municipality do what it can to support health care close to home.
Grey and Bruce Counties will contribute one-million dollars over five years to the expansion.
The City of Owen Sound will also consider a $500,000 request this month.
