The name “Grey Granite Curling Club” has survived the closure of the building on 2nd Avenue East in Owen Sound.
Club President Ron Hopper says several clubs offered their facilities to the local curlers and the best fit was in Allenford.
Hopper says the Allenford curling club had times available in the evening, and as a result Grey Granite club has rented the facility so it can continue to operate as a group.
Club members will hit the ice this week, and the only consideration now is whether they need two or three nights a week.
Prior to the facility closing in Owen Sound, Grey Granite club had some 70 to 80 members.
Hopper says not all will want to go to Allenford, but they will have enough for at least two nights of curling a week.
The Grey Granite club building was closed after repair costs soared to about $43,000.
The club has been operating for 137 years.
